The Alitheia

This is a space craft for a film called The Void. This is my first concept vehicle from the ground up.

The challenge for this piece was creating a space craft that was built for one man, designed around a live action cockpit that we filmed in and was not overly Sci-Fi that as set in the near future.

I referenced old NASA space shuttles, fighter jets, modern space craft designs and even some Sci-Fi concept designs.

I modeled the cockpit first based on the live action plates we shot. Then I spent time detailing the engines. I blocked the model and begin isolating portions of it to build out the panels, I wanted that secondary detail to be geometry. I did model some of the bigger rivers, but almost all of the tertiary details are painted normals in Substance. I combined a UDIM workflow for more of the model that will be on screen and used ID Maps for other parts like the Engines to keep texture counts down. Altogether there are around 26 4-8K textures used and the entire model took around 2 months all together.
